Book Wars a weekly feature hosted between two book review blogs – A Life Bound By BooksMuch Loved Books!

It’s a fact that book lovers know all about the covers of the books they covet. Often when a title is released here in the UK, it’s sometimes vastly different across the pond in the US. So, Michelle from Much Loved Books and I have come together to create Book Wars to talk about the difference in covers when it comes to the US vs. UK versions.

We hope from time to time authors will chime in with their thoughts as well. We welcome everyone to comment and share their thoughts too! The more the merrier!

Before we get to this weeks Book Wars, we have a winner to announce. The Book Wars winner for Stay With Me by J. Lynn is...UK!!!!!! Thank you to everyone who voted for both books, and for picking a winner.

Also, there's a poll at the bottom of the post that we'd love to hear your input for the two covers! Tell us which one YOU love the most.

Synopsis: In the village of Martindale, hundreds of miles north of the new English capital of Windsor, sixteen-year-old Silver Blackthorn takes the Reckoning. This coming-of-age test not only decides her place in society - Elite, Member, Inter or Trog - but also determines that Silver is to become an Offering for King Victor.

But these are uncertain times and no one really knows what happens to the teenagers who disappear into Windsor Castle. Is being an Offering the privilege everyone assumes it to be, or do the walls of the castle have something to hide?

Trapped in a maze of ancient corridors, Silver finds herself in a warped world of suspicion where it is difficult to know who to trust and who to fear. The one thing Silver does know is that she must find a way out . . .

About the Author:

Despite two national newspaper reports to the contrary, Kerry Wilkinson is male. Honestly.

His debut, LOCKED IN, the first in the detective Jessica Daniel series, is a UK no.1 Kindle bestseller, with the first three Jessica Daniel books making him Amazon UK's top-selling author for the final quarter of 2011.

THINK OF THE CHILDREN came out in February 2013, outselling Dan Brown to become Amazon UK's no.1 Kindle pre-order. Kerry is the first formerly self-published British author to have an ebook no.1 and reach the top 20 of the UK paperback chart.

Since then, the Jessica Daniel series has continued with PLAYING WITH FIRE, THICKER THAN WATER, BEHIND CLOSED DOORS and CROSSING THE LINE.

A spin-off from PLAYING WITH FIRE - the Andrew Hunter series - started in 2014 with SOMETHING WICKED.

Pan Macmillan (Griffin in the US) are also publishing Kerry's young adult/fantasy/adventure series - the Silver Blackthorn trilogy. The first book, RECKONING, was released in 2014, with RENEGADE to follow in 2015.

He is an occasional sports journalist and can frequently be spotted cycling the hills of Lancashire while trying not to be knocked off. He was born in Somerset but now lives in the north west.

Let the Wars Begin: Its now time to make our decision, let's see what we think about the covers and pick our favorite cover.
Lisa So, this week I'm looking at these covers a bit differently. Since I haven't read the book, I'm going to vote based on if I saw these two sitting side by side on a book shelf in a shop which one would I want to take home.

And that makes my choice SUPER easy. Hands down, the UK cover is more appealing in just about every way. There's a lot more to take on visually, there's more in that cover that makes me want to know just who this character is.

So this week, my vote goes to the UK cover and how intriguing it is... and now I want to read this book. Now it's YOUR chance, tell us YOUR favorite below.
Michelle This is such an easy choice for me this week. While I do like the USA cover, I much prefer the UK cover. I think the UK cover represents Silver much better than the USA one does. She is tough, and strong, and the things she does in the book match the image of her that the UK book portrays. I love the background of the book, and how it’s dark, and dirty, and that it’s not all pretty and nice. It shows a strong willed, determined person who will do anything to survive. It's a UK win for me this week. Don't forget to vote for YOUR favourite cover, and take a look and see what I thought of the book here.
VOTE for YOUR favorite cover of Reckoning by Kerry Wilkinson NOW!
